How to get the right measurement
Takes two minutes. You need a sheet of paper, a pencil, and a ruler.
- Place a sheet of paper flat against a wall.
- Stand with your heel pressed against the wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe with a pencil.
- Measure the distance in centimetres, this is your foot length.
- To check width, wrap a soft tape around the widest part of your foot.
- This is the ball of the foot, just below where your toes begin.
- Compare your result with the strap width chart in Step 03.
Feet are naturally slightly larger at the end of the day. Measuring in the evening gives the most accurate result, and ensures a comfortable fit from morning to night.
Find your size
Locate your foot length in the chart below. If you are between two sizes, always select the larger one.
| EU Size | 35 | 36 | 37 | 38 | 39 | 40 | 41 | 42 | 43 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| US Size | 4.5 | 5.5 | 6.5 | 7.5 | 8.5 | 9.5 | 10.5 | 11.5 | 12.5 |
| Foot length (cm) | 22.0 | 22.5 | 23.0 | 23.8 | 24.5 | 25.0 | 25.5 | 26.3 | 27.2 |
| Sole length (cm) * | 22.5 | 23.0 | 23.8 | 24.5 | 25.0 | 26.0 | 26.5 | 27.2 | 28.5 |
* The sole is always slightly longer than the foot. This is intentional, to allow natural movement of the toes. We measure from the back of the heel to the front edge of the footbed, as shown opposite.

About leather & fit
Our sandals are made from genuine natural leather. A slight snugness when first worn is completely normal, this is part of the material's character. With wear, the leather softens and gradually moulds to the exact shape of your foot. Allow a few days before drawing any conclusions about your size.
The answer is always larger.
Leather cannot stretch to compensate for a size that is too small.
Comfortable from the first wear. The leather will adapt to the shape of your foot over time.
Too tight. The leather will not stretch enough to compensate.
To Pad or Not to Pad ?
Rubber soles are anti-slip pads that also protect the leather sole of your sandals. You can add them when you order, or later through a cobbler. Here is everything you need to decide.
Your two options
Both are valid. The right choice depends on how and where you plan to wear your sandals.
Lisbon's pavements are notoriously slippery. If you are based here or visiting a city with similar streets, we strongly recommend adding rubber soles from the start.
Two schools of thought
There is no wrong answer. Here is how each approach works in practice.
Practical first
Add rubber soles from day one. You get immediate grip and protection on the leather sole. Your sandals are ready for any terrain, any city, any summer.
The purist approach
Start on bare leather. The sole softens and shapes itself to your foot over one season, giving a more personal fit. Then protect what you have built with rubber soles for the seasons ahead.
Without rubber soles, you can speed up the break-in by walking on gravel or textured surfaces. This reduces the initial slipperiness of a new leather sole after just a few days.
